Question

My name is nothing but a jest to mark one week beyond His test

Almost

Like most.

My fingers clenched in fisted show, the ring they bring for all to know

Save me.

Why me?

A pall was cast upon this eye, the burden on my shoulders my

Worst curse.

Few worse.

I placed her petals in dirty vase and so too others in fine, bright glass

That lied.

These died.

Then slew the savior loved at first whose love of mine was his one curse

To Hell

He fell.

Yes, love is odd and so am I, but great the vision of monstrous eye

Demure,

So pure,

The heart.

I see an obvious Easter theme, which makes me question that it has anything at all to do with Easter. (Darn you Shakee, you've made me a cynic.)

Easter Lilly will be my first official incorrect guess.

Actually the answer does have something to do with that but not how you would suspect. Dig into the first stanza and you might just figure it out. If not, more clues elsewhere.

Ka-Boom!!!

Oh my! That sounded like Captain Sparrow shooting off one of his . . .

: )

You and your canonical research projects... fine.

Man this one is tough. Hopefully its not one of those head slappers after you get the answer. Oh well. 5 stars from me!!

No Dogg, this isn't a head-slapper. There are a enough key-words and motifs to nail this for those less familiar with my own scholastic pursuits and appetites, but it aint no bowling ball. :D

Thanks for the rate.

Frodo taking the ring in lord of the rings. At least the test, ring, and eye match. Not sure about the rest.

Your guess sounds plausible.

If it's plausible, I apologize severely. I meant it as a total joke. <will edit if it's not too late>

Honestly, I'm seeing patterns where they shouldn't be. You're probably ok. I should be writing today, I think. Or napping.

based on the first paragraph of the riddle, I'm trying to figure out what the name of the day around one week after Good Friday is called. There is something called "Divine mercy Sunday" or "Low Sunday", or "Thomas Sunday", or "Quasimodo Sunday" which is the week after Easter. None of these, however, sound like jests. BUT, The Saint who coined this day was "canonized". Pope John Paul II canonized St. Faustina in 2000, making the day more official i guess. am i anywhere near the target?

A reference to BC and AD

or just the time line refered to as before christ?

anything to do with the "Image of Divine Mercy" that Faustina was instructed by Jesus to paint? Or is the answer more related to one of the other names I mentioned?

After reading your initial thoughts, I don't think it's neccessary to steer you toward or away from anyhting. When you see/get the answer, you'll say "duh!" I suggest you go back and read your first post carefully while re-reading the riddle. That's when the "duh" moment will probably occur. :D

Quasimodo

My name is nothing but a jest to mark one week beyond His test

Almost

Like most. - He was found at Notre Dame on Quasimodo Sunday (the 1st Sunday after Easter) and was named after the day.

My fingers clenched in fisted show, the ring they bring for all to know

Save me.

Why me? - He rang the bells but didn't hear them because he was deaf

A pall was cast upon this eye, the burden on my shoulders my

Worst curse.

Few worse. - Huge wart over his left eye and hunch backed

I placed her petals in dirty vase and so too others in fine, bright glass

That lied.

These died. - He tried to prove a point to Esmerelda by putting wilted flowers in a beautiful vase and beautiful flowers in an ugly vase. I don't think she got the point...

Then slew the savior loved at first whose love of mine was his one curse

To Hell

He fell. - Quasimodo murdered Frollo, his former benefactor, for condemning Esmerelda

Yes, love is odd and so am I, but great the vision of monstrous eye

Demure,

So pure,

The heart.
