Question

A repasts' agenda begins all things here.

Move back to front and add you's "be" ... <-[yeah, right: the new word goes there]

You must, you see, for here rhymes belong

or else you'll discover that it is all wrong.

Now add a "look"; but "see" only a ghost

or a hint, or a border, if that, at most.

Add K to produce the young Spaniard's tool

which aided him recently down under to rule.

Move back to front, and again add an R

to get one who finds his prey, be't near or far.

Drop Spaniard's K, and also first's last

to get one whose livelihood's to always be fast.

Remove now the C, and flip middle two

and you will discover what's following you.

Then toss out the A, and give things a shake

And, Lo and behold: you've made a mistake!

I get the word "err"...it goes err (mistake), rear (follow you), racer (goes fast), tracker (finds prey), racket (tennis ==> Nadal), trace (hint/border/ghost)...and so I guess the word at the top could be "cater" since repasts' agenda would be to supply food? maybe?

I was on the same track as pickett, but...

i got to "racket" and was leaning toward "trace" but was unsure.

But "Cater" does not rhyme with "here" in the very first line...

The first couplet has two words - one each line

The second couplet is an added clue to the second word

which becomes the third word - in the third couplet [TRACE]

i believe the clue is in "you must, you see" -- meant to read "you must USE 'C'" -- which leads us to TRACE

but i'm still lost as to that second word i think...

I've gotten most of the hints so far... Trace, racket, racer, tracker, err at the end, but I think I'm lost. My answer does not rhyme.

Table? Adding you's be (are) with C can make Trace. Sort of. Sorry this is my first post and I'm just thinking out loud...

tea and tear perhaps?

Assuming "add you's "be" to mean "are" or "R"

we are both half right i believe...

EAT (1st line)

Front to Back = TEA

+ "you's 'be' = R = TEAR

Which rhymes w/ HERE.

then "use C" to get trace, etc etc.

That's gotta be it!

Okay if you end up with TEAR and you simply add a 'look', a 'see' = C, you can't get TRACE. You have to rearrange the letters too and the rhyme doesn't say to do that.

I disagree...

"TRACE" and RACKET were correct -- and you have to move the T to the end for that to happen... but OP doesn't say that you had to do that!
