I'm not positive but I think there might be a mistake somewhere.

From squeeze and squeals, I've determined that 4 letters are alss. Then from squalls and squeals, I've determined that a 5th letter is e. Squeeze eliminates a second e, and wrassle eliminates w and r, so from wrestle, the 6th letter must be t. And from squires, the 7th letter must be i. But then these 7 letters cause problems in the words like subvert, scenery, lullaby, nullify, and more.

So, is there a mistake in the words or did I make a mistake somewhere?

I don't know if there is something wrong but with the following words only, there should be enough to solve. But of course I'm missing something here....

unknown: o

squeals: xxxoo

squalls: xxxo

seawall: xoooo

wrassle: xoooo

squared: xoooo

seagull: xooooo

If there is enough to solve it, why don't you give us your answer, then???? ^_^

Nah, even these words are giving me a problem.

There's a key would in there "SHOULD"

I'm leaning towards there being a mistake in there, or at least it would make me feel better about myself if there were. validation is sweet.

Yup, I just got in. Using the words down through seagull, all hypotheses show contradictions. Hope my spreadsheet isn't giving him problems (it's not the latest--Rev3 or Rev4, or the formatting wouldn't be so long).

As a matter of fact, even the suggestion that these words should be sufficient doesn't work, as even these words alone show contradictions:

unknown: o

squeals: xxxoo

squalls: xxxo

seawall: xoooo

wrassle: xoooo

squared: xoooo

seagull: xooooo

what I meant by should be enough is that with all those "correct letters" and the one word eliminating so many letters, it should be solvable, but as we're finding, there are contradictions.

I agree. It certainly appears like something is wrong.

Hi Palmer, now I see what you're saying; sometimes it takes me a while to catch up.

Good news for spreadsheet users is that now there's a masterword spreadsheet that works on Open Office, because it uses NO macros.

CaptainEd, your new spreadsheet still issues a security warning at open, telling me it has macros. I just copied it.

It looks great, but there's something about the macros.
