0 Guest Posted November 1, 2007 Report Share Posted November 1, 2007 You' re right, but, the said player is not only a player of the defending champions Italy:given the fact that the Italian squad not only defends the world champions' crown, but also bears the same honour at least until the next World Cup (notably 2010), we cant' deny that the same player is currently a member of the world champion's team. At the same time, though, he can't be considered a member of the world cup champions' team, since he wasn't a member of the team that won the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany. In conclusion, it seems to me that the case of the player under consideration, is -in a sense- ''paradoxical'', in terms of a contrast between reality and convention (and i call so the fact that the Italian squad by convention bears the honour of world champion till the next WC).
