Question

Rainbow riddles engraved on me,

With needle and thread I stitch the sea.

Riddles engraved upon my bed—

A cork of life, a boat for dead.

I serve within a house of doom

Some dozen others share my room.

My life taboo, a grimace fierce,

Pale the reaper’s flesh to pierce.

One brother in bed ere deep and cold—

This heir outcast my story told.

Name me.

I always enjoy reading Shakeepuddn's riddles, I hardly ever know what he's referring to, but I like reading them none-the-less. Always well put together and well worded rhymes. Keep up the good work and I have no idea what the answer is.

From you Herr Professor, that is a compliment indeed. Thank you.

I read the hints, so I know I'm on the wrong track, but this still seems like a (silly) answer to me.

For some reason I'm thinking of the poor sad remnants blown out of a hollow easter egg.

Some interesting stabs here but none close. Here's help to navigate

Note the spelling in the title of the riddle to get into the correct area to which the answer pertains. Note also specific allusions in the riddle that support a motif. Cracking the second line would really get the ball rolling.

Good luck

I'm with Prof T. These are a joy to read. I think the reason they are so difficult, at least for me, is that they often invoke an image...

Somehow, I think this refers to a writer. My first instinct was Hemmingway, but I think I'll guess the works of Poe, on a lark.

I'm quite sure I'm wrong, but maybe I can at least get a good hint out of you.

Not the writer am I;

Nor I the work.

My empty bed of death

Did rise like a cork.

It's hands down all Rachel

Of course save one . . .

We two shared a bed

When head-peddling's done.

My bed-fellow friend

Commanded you first

What label to lend him . . .

Does that slake your thirst? :D

OMG! I just figured out the answer to this riddle! It's excellent, but awfully specific. I don't want to give it away though, even in a spoiler for prying eyes so I'll just ask a question.

If I say that I know the answer to this "queer" riddle, would you take me at my word?

If I still don't know after a clue like that, I just must not be familiar. You've definitely got me interested.
