Maybe that's the answer. But, for the sake of originality. The father married an older woman, who had a child with her first husband, and this is his step-son. Still a son, just not genetically. If this was the answer it was a very poorly constructed riddle. Secondly, 18 could mean months. He turned 18 months old...... They don't specify time therfore as someone already said, he could of turned 19, 18 years ago , and had the child 3 days past his 19th birthday. Making him 37 and 3 days old and his son 18. Time slowed down for him relative to those still on Earth, who saw 18 years pass to his 1.
