I'm an underage officer in a four story house

From basement to roof, a scurrying mouse.

On every long floor, and stairs between,

These are the places I am seen.

A faerie driver, a spot, or an egg,

For the gift I give all have begged.

A short little letter to a friend

Signed with seven names;

The end.

This is an interesting riddle. Tough, but working on it

Hmm, seven eh?

Well a quick search on Wikipedia tells me that there are seven:

-Colors of the rainbow

-Days of the week

-Virtues and deadly sins

-Dwarfs who lived with Snow White

-Harry Potter novels

-Wonders of the ancient world

-Holes in the head of most mammals...

Well, I've got nothing. Hope someone else has more luck.

something to do with fairytales?

I'm an underage officer in a four story house

From basement to roof, a scurrying mouse. - Cinderella

On every long floor, and stairs between, - Cinderella cleaning?

These are the places I am seen.

A faerie driver, a spot, or an egg, - faerie driver = Cinderella, spot/egg = something mythical (maybe dragons :D)

For the gift I give all have begged. - sounds like the fairies from Sleeping Beauty

A short little letter to a friend

Signed with seven names; - seven dwarfs in Snow White

The end. - most fairytales end with that

This is quite the tough one... <_<

This is going to be either very close or unimaginably far off.

Talk about four levels and scurrying made me think about video games. The seven names signed could refer to the high score table which is shown after you lose. A quick google search came up with Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong consists of four different types of levels and has you scurrying from the bottom to the top (even if you climb ladders not stairs). The gift could refer to a place on the high score list. However, my theory comes to a stop. From the screenshots I could find, the High Score table for Donkey Kong only has five entries. And I still don't know what faerie driver, spot and egg have to do with it.

Your correct in assuming that the four story house is a metaphor. All clues are in the riddle. It's a toughy, but I'm proud of this one. Keep trying. If you want a hint, I'll oblige.

In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the main quest involves awakening the seven sages of seven elements to banish evil from the land of Hyrule. Further, the number of years separating the child and adult stages of the game is seven.

Four story house = 40-foot tree?

Gift = water or air?

short letter = s?

to a friend = ami?

seven names = continents or seas?

This is interesting. When you said 7 seas/continents i went into a tangent, which meade me look at "long boards and stairs" as

Latitude and Longitude

Am i close?

No, the four story house is not a living thing.

Nothing to do with Christmas.

Nothing mythic or fictional or esoteric.

Very common basic thing.

Wow! Some really creative and well thought out directions there, but nothing close.

Holding hands during the hop,

Hit the bars when we stop.

I’m underage “or” officer at least in threes.
