Question

Guest

So this is my first attempt at a riddle here and it may be a little too tough, but I guess you'll let me know. :)

As the holidays approach I thought it'd be nice to give everyone a simple greeting, but it seems to have gotten a little jumbled on it's way to this forum.

Can you help me unscramble the message?

Some bad poetry to help you along the way:

"A holiday greeting all 'boxed' up for you,

Don't try to read it 'til you've done parts numbered two

How to begin? The more apt question is 'where'?

Cut all known letters in half, and go backwards from there."

It may help at first to 'shift' your thinking, without the keyboard.

I know all the letters... Am I supposed to cut all of them and come backwards from the ending?

Don't cut the letters themselves in half, rather the system we use to organize them.

So...

Since this is a holiday riddle I thought I'd bump it back up to the first page. And since this one never really got off the ground I'll add a big hint too.

The first step is to use a shifted substitution cipher. The poem tells you where to shift to.
