okay I know this has been mentioned a million and one times but the best solutin I could think of is to fill the pipe with water and let the ball float to the surface.

if the pipe burried in the floor has a closed end.. and the pipe is bit broader in diameter than the ball.. then you can make the ball come out.. fill the pipe with water.. the ball will float and will come out...

Due to the fact that the pipe's bottom is sealed, and that the pipe is slightly bigger than the ball, we can add water and the ball being rubber, will simply floot. (That's chasing a rat out of his hole!)

All You have to do is blow enough air down into the hole for a long enough time and the ball will rise to the top of the hole and you can remove it quite easily. fred7021 U.S.M.C.Ret.
