Question

I don't mean to steal zeepuzzlemaster's thunder from his first puzzle, but I thought maybe it was time for number 8. This one doesn't follow the theme of the previous ones. I'm still unsure as to how easy this one is. I'm expecting it go in the first few posts, but I just want to see where it's at.

You will find me in the safest place of a house,

Yet I'm not in every home.

I cause physical pain to many children,

But you will find me up in space.

I can be both fragile and stout,

In, out, up, down, and all the way around.

alcohol?

Yea that's how you spell it, but it isn't the answer. Don't think the pain part is bad. It is quite funny. And who says alcohol is the safest part of a house? lol

I was starting to get a bit worried lol, and no it not a gas. I couldn't imagine gas causing physical pain, unless its in a gas bottle. That wouldn't be as funny as this. It might break an adults nose if they're stupid enough.

I certainly wouldn't place my life in the hands of any of those. Think outside of the box. Wait a sec, pretend there is no box.....although that would be the way to go.

(there is a subtle hint in the last two sentences if you can find it. It just happens to make sense in those sentences)

A glass sliding door?

not to sure about it being in the safest place in the house but they caused me alot of pain when I was younger...

<_<

I'll give it to Gambit. You pretty much got it. I was thinking just door, but you were spot on with the sliding glass doors that everyone, as a child, has run into. I've seen it happen where the door has come off the track cause they were running that fast. Absolutely hilarious. Anyways, the most structurally sound place in a house is a door frame, hence the safest place in a house. Doors are used in space shuttles, that's why you will find them in space. In, out, etc. is describing the motion of the doors. Around are the revolving ones.....so much fun.

Hah, I was thinking vacuum, you know, running over a kid. Kept in closet (safest place?). Not everyone has one. There is vacuum in space, but its obviously not the same thing. I could go on, but nice work Gambit.
