Question

In a basball game, a team has managed to score 39 runs. The opposing team ended up with a resounding, 0.

The manager comes up to the team. "We have to score some runs."

Suprisingly, they scored none. But they managed to hit every single ball that was thrown to them in the bottom of the ninth inning. Starting the hitting spree with no outs, balls, or strikes.

How many maximum hits did the team get without scoring a single run?

it would be nine total hits... all singles. 3 bases per out.... 3 outs... 3X3 is 9.

the most possible would be 6 in a single 1/2 inning. But it's never happened. From what I read it would have to go like this...

1st batter hits, is out trying to steal 2nd base.

2nd batter hits, is out trying to steal 2nd base.

3rd, 4th, 5th batter would load up bases.

6th batter would hit a ground ball, stiking the runner on 3rd base. Runner is out, Batter gets a hit, End of the 1/2 inning.
