Question

1)What is it that you can keep after giving it to someone else?

2)What is round as a dishpan, deep as a tub, and still the oceans couldn't fill it up?

3)Scarcely was the father in this world when the son could be found sitting on the roof.

4)What goes up the chimney down, but can't go down the chimney up?

5)When one does not know what it is, then it is something; but when one knows what it is, then it is nothing.

My mind is a sieve with the holes getting bigger every day.

1) unreality has it. Any emotion really.

2) Either a dishpan or a tub (as long as the drain is open) ;-)

3) Not sure. I keep thinking about a peak or something...

4) Umbrella.

5) unreality's works, but I always heard it to be a mystery.

That doesn't work because it might be a mass murder or something equally horrifying and (although unlikely) to some degree probable.

and for #2 I thought of a woven basket... cause all the water would just pour out of the bottom

but then i remembered th fish...

This one does work, poor fish :(

He who laughs last, thinks slowest

Every one keeps saying that number three is fire/smoke, but that parallel seems force-fit. How can fire be represented by "father" and how can smoke be like "son," furthermore, if the "father" (fire) is only in the world (not in a house), how can the son (smoke) be on a roof?

I have to agree with sandstorm. I have not seen an answer yet to explain question #3.

Aaron Burr - do you agree that it is fire/smoke?

Fast-breeding rooftop monkeys is the answer to that one!
