0 Guest
Fill the 3-liter bottle and pour it into the empty 5-liter bottle. Fill the 3-liter bottle again, and pour enough to fill 5-liter bottle. This leaves exactly 1 liter in the 3-liter bottle. Empty the 5-liter bottle; pour the remaining 1 liter from the 3-liter bottle into the 5-liter bottle. Fill the 3-liter bottle and pour it into the 5-liter bottle. The 5-liter bottle now has exactly 4 liters There's another solution but I'll leave that for someone else to figure out/post. Build a man a fire; he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on Fire and He'll be warm for the rest of his life

0 Guest
Fill the 5-liter bottle and pour it into the empty 3-liter bottle, leaving 2 liters in the 5-liter bottle. Empty the 3-liter bottle. Pour the remaining 2 liters from the 5-liter bottle into the 3-liter bottle. Refill the 5-liter bottle and pour 1 liter into the 3-liter bottle to fill it. You have 4 liters left in the 5-liter bottle.

0 bhramarraj
Since you are near the river one more trick may be introduced: Fill the 3 liter container full. Empty it in 5 liter container. Now fill enough sand in the 5 liter container so that water level rises to the top. Now this sand may be filled in the 3 liter container. Now fill the 3 liter container with water. This 1 liter water may be poured in the 5 liter container already having 3 liter water.
0 Guest
1st - Fill the 3 liters Container 2nd - Put the 3 liters of water in the 5 liters container 3rd - Fill again the 3 liters container and fill again the 5 liters to full capacity, leaving you 1 liter in the 3 liters capacity container. 4th - disposed all water in the 5 liters capacity container and put the 1 liter water remain in the 3 liters capacity container. 5th - fill the 3 liters capacity container with full capacity and transfer to 5 liters capacity container, you have now a 4 liters of water.
