Yeah, you're probably right. I can't get it myself, I think it's a figure of speech that I'm not familiar with.

forgone conclusion

This answer would make sense, since I am giving up on making sense of "the mess"

Not sure how you get foregone from six gones though...

There are a whole bunch of meanings for hand. Maybe these will help you solve the riddle

NOUNS

1. end part of wrist (we shook hands)

2. something resembling a hand (Clock hand)

3. used in reference to the power to direct (in her hands)

haha, nice 1! not the answer, but i love it anyway ;) the answer just lies in stringing 8 different meanings of "hand" together to form a proper sentence (which can prove a bit challenging) that's the method, so i don't see much of a point in providing the answer too.
