0 Guest
you could stack the wood and build a "ladder to Heaven" like Kyle, Stan, and Cartman did in South Park.
0 Guest
If you're stuck on an island with absolutely nothing else, then how come you've got wood? Maybe it's just that time of morning. But seriously, if the aim is to leave the island, I would create a raft and oar by forming the 12cm wide strips of wood into a lattice (thus negating the need for nails or rope) large enough to stay buoyant and to prevent any of the toxic water from coming up over the sides. 0 Guest
If there is as much wood available as I want, I would just keep trowing the pieces into the sea until some sort of dam is created (the wood would pile up from the bottom of the sea until it reaches the surface) and I can walk over it... 0 Guest
Rub two peices of wood together to start a fire. Then, with unlimited wood, build a bonfire big enough for a passing ship (or astronauts on the space station) to see it and send someone to investigate. Beavers, why do thier dams not drift away! The poster did not identify the wood as ironwood and lets face it: wood varieties with an specific gravity under 1 are far more common. You make a fair point though, if it was a pile of snakewood you'd probably be able to dam your way out of there! As for the beavers - they use a combination of felled trees, mud and rocks along with the smaller pieces of wood - we only have 12cm strips on this God-forsaken island. Hang on, hardwood, 12cm... maybe it's the island where they dump the black keys from broken up pianos? If so we're in luck!

0 Guest
well, each piece of wood absorbs a tiny bit of water when in contact with it... if you keep throwing pieces (unlimited, right?) into the water, the ocean will eventualy dry... (i just guess the poor guy will starve to death before the end...)

0 Guest
Umm... yeah Eagle there is kind of no question or anything even to do. I think if I were the person stranded on the island, I would make Wood Man. Like a knockoff of Iron Man but made with wood.
0 Guest
using three species of wood Balsa (Ochroma pyramidale) cos i wanna be like Thor Heyadahl on the Kon-Tiki. Agba (Gossweilerodendron balsamiferum) Cos it's also light and very gummy which comes in handy for a bit of filling. Teak - java (Tectona grandis) Cos it will finnish the deck off nicely and offer a bit of oily resistance for the cabin. With a bit of ingenuity I can buld it with clever latice and jointing with filler from my agba and........... Why don't I just design a wind surf?I'm off se ya! 0 Guest
I don't know what the question is, but with the wood I would develop the entire island and make lots of money
0 Guest
Confusing... A raft works, or maybe if you wrote S.O.S. in massive letters. You could also build a house in log cabin style, etc. So many possiblities. Needs to be more specific...
0 Guest
This one needs an answer I think before it falls too far down in the forums... Build a raft, and then stack a few on top of eachother? make a gigantic basket structure and us it as a boat? I know the raft one is the answer to a similar problem. 0 Guest
your trapped on a island with only wood (as much as you want, but its ok 12cm wide so you cant stand on a single piece) I admit I don't use the metric system on a daily basis, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 12 cm = almost half a foot? That seems wide enough to stand on... except if the other dimensions are too small... ?
