I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers do have different colored twist ties, and even the ones with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something new everyday!!

When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you "squeeze" for freshness or softness.

Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And each day has a different color twist tie. They are:

Monday - Blue

Tuesday - Green

Thursday - Red

Friday - White

Saturday - Yellow

So today being Thursday, I wanted a red twist tie - not white which is Friday (almost a week old?)

The colors go alphabetically by color Blue - Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday thru Saturday. Very easy to remember. But I put a post-it note in my wallet when I first found out about this so I would not forget.

That takes too long to compare all of the dates. Looking at colors is much faster. You learn something new every day.

If your smart, you can go to a place for bread that's a few days old or more and pay only 1/2 price or less then freeze it or dehydrate it for croutons , stuffing , or process into bread crumbs. Possibilities are endless. Always avoid bread with green mold, it's for the birds.

There is a maybe famous fast food place called TOGO'S and they hollow out a big piece of bread and fill it with some soup of your choice. Give the bread-bowl a try.

would this be the same in australia???maybe not but I think several big cities in the U.S. have it. You can always make your own with an ice-cream scoop and some Italian bread. McDonalds may catch up some day. They tried everything else.

Yes, I also have tried Panera and you'll pay alot more. Go to Olive Garden for nice soft buttery bread sticks with your minestrone, now that hits the spot.
