Question

If A is a random positive/negative number(an integer,excluding 0),can you find an expression for 2*A,which is correct for both cases.

No,if A is negative,that's not true.

um....no

If A is negative, the absolute value is positive.

If A is positive, the absolute value is positive.

For either a positive or negative value of A, the end result would always be the same.

They would be the same, but not equal to 2*A in the case of a negative number, what he wants is:

-(-A + -A)
