Question

Thanks to a set of temporary magical powers you are in the final of the Wimbledon tennis championships up against seven-time winner Roger Federer. Your powers cannot last for the whole match and you must therefore choose the optimum time for them to run out. What is the score that gives you the maximum chance of winning?

My guess:

You up 2-love in sets, and you are in a tiebreaker and up 6-love. The set score doesn't really to matter, as once your powers are gone, you have about a 0% chance of winning a set from the start. This gives you 6 points to win the match with just one bad stroke from Fed. I'd rather this than up 5-love and 40-love, in a set. In that scenario, you only have 3 points to win directly. Once you get to deuce and your powers are gone, your win percentage will go down to about 0%.

Against a decent amateur, even with this advantage, I'd love to bet on Fed.
