Here is a classic puzzle:

Triangle ABC and BCD are isosceles. AB = BC = DC and AY=AX. What else can you infer from this?

angle DAC = 1/3 *angle BCX

Also assume that AX is a line and AY is a line

Not sure how basic or otherwise you want us to be, so some to go on with..



OBAC = ODBC/2

OABC = OCDY

by extension of Phil's inference: OBAC = (180 - OBCD)/4
