Question

A man is trapped in a room and needs to figure out a 13 character password in order to escape. He has the following clues

Exactly two of the below statements are lies.

The password is contained within this sentence.

The password is not in this hint.

At least one of the above statements is a lie.

Note: I just found this in one of my notebooks. Forgive me if it is too easy.

.The password, clues 2 and 5 are correct the rest are lies.

Hmm, I misread the teaser thinking it was 12 letters,

'The Password ' or 'Thepasswordis'?

2 and 5 are true, then 1 must be true as well (3 and 4 are false).

TTFFT: "Thepasswordis" (the main answer)

TFFTT: "notinthishint"

FTTTT: (any 13 letter sequence in the 2nd sentence other than "Thepasswordis")

TFTFT: ([almost] any 13 letter sequence excluding previous answers)

Maybe you can refine the OP to allow for only one possible answer.

Your answer is quite right and complete, Venay.Singh84. This deserves to be 'The best answer'.

With 5 statements that can be true or false there are 32 possibilities. Most combinations are contradictory, but 4 are acceptable and without contradiction. It are the four that you mentioned. Unfortunately for the riddle this means that any thirteen characters, whether in the clues or not, will do. In fact it means that there is no problem. The man trapped in the room does not have to figure out a password because any thirteen characters are good.
