Breaking through the circle

Question

Posted · Report post

Prem was doing his homework. With a radius of 20cm he drew a circle. He then drew 7 lines inside the circle with the help of a foot-rule. Can you tell in how many minimum and maximum divisions was the circle divided by these lines?

Minimum is 8, assuming none of the lines are identical

Maximum is 29 (first line adds 1 part by crossing no lines, second line adds 2 parts by crossing one line, third line adds 3 parts by crossing two lines, etc.)
