Question

one from my english class when we studied the english language

As fast as an eagle, as slow as a slug.

As tall as a tree, as small as a bug.

Sometimes in front, sometimes behind.

Never on top, and always aligned.

What am I?

Another answer:

tires or wheels.

As fast as an eagle, as slow as a slug.

they can move fast or slow

As tall as a tree, as small as a bug.

could be a monster truck tire next to a sapling or a micro-machines or matchbox car tire next to a beetle

Sometimes in front, sometimes behind.

Front tires or rear tires

Never on top, and always aligned.

These 2 can be refuted but hopefully you see the point, also the answer of a shadow can be refuted here as well. What if a tree was next to me casting its shadow on my head. Then a shadow would be on top of me.

If we say your own shadow, not just shadow, then never can be on top of you.

not true- what if some part of your body is casting a shadow on your body? such as your own hand being above your head and being between the light source and the top of your head, thereby resulting in a shadow on top of your head. get it?
