Generation Bee

Question

Posted · Report post

Every male bee has just a female parent, while every female bee has both a male and a female parent. How many ancestors does a male bee have, counting twenty generations?
Note: Don't count this male as a generation or include him in the 'final tally.'

Do you count "this male bee" too? Because I can't get more than 28655 either.

M(n) = F(n+3) - 2

where M(n) is a number of ancestors of a male bee counting n generations and F(k) stands for k-th Fibonacci number
