Square Trissection


You are asked to dissect a square into three squares of the same size, using fewer than nine pieces. Below is an example of a square trisection into three smaller identical squares using 9 pieces.

I found a solution that requires only 7 pieces, but it requires flipping of 2 of the pieces to the other side. Since the OP didn't prohibit that I'm posting my solution.

The dark blue pieces are flipped
