Nice puzzle !

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi my friends...I`ve prepared a nice puzzle to you..

Here we go:-

Cut 9 pieces of paper, write a number on each one of them, from 1 to 9,put them in a pot,put the pot on a table.

Your aim is to arrenge these numbers on the table in this order: 123456789

according to the following rules:

1- you can choose any number to be the first number, and put it on the table.( for example I choose number 4).

2-take a second number and compare it with the number on the table, if.. 2nd>1st....put it to the left.

if 2nd<1st...put it to the right.( in my example, if I choose 7...I`ll get 74.....but if I choose 3.....will be 43).

3-now whenever you have an even amount of numbers on the table( two numbers,4,6,or 8), you should insert any number you want

between them, just in the middle.(in my example, if I want to choose 5,so I should put it in the middle to get 754,,,or 453).

4- you are allowed to take any number from the table and put it back in your pot. but to put any number again on the table, you should follow the rules.

5-to put the 4th number, you should compare it with the middle number( in my example...with number 5), if the choosen number>than

the middle number....put it to the left, if the choosen number < than the middle number...put it to the right.(in my example, if I choose

number 9,,so 9>5...I`ll get 9754,,,or 9453).

6-as in step 3.

7-whenever you have an odd amount of numbers on the table(one number,3,5,7,or 9),you should compare your choosen number with

the middle number, if your choosen number>the middle number....put it to the left.

if your choosen number<than the middle number.....put it to the right.

Have a nice time :)

WHen you say "choose a number", do you mean that I must grab one randomly, or do you mean that I can decide on which number I want to grab?

I see, so when you compare with the middle number, you append the new number on the OUTSIDE (front or back) of the whole string, rather than Left or Right of the middle number. I answered a wrong question.

This IS an interesting puzzle, thank you Wolfgang
