ahh, the numbers in parenthesis represent the would be double letter scores in the game of Scrabble ©. meant as possible clues to winnow out potential letters. think it may have inadvertantly misled anyone familiar with typical cryptic clues (you there, fabpig?)

Ah. I thought you could add a layer of complexity to the puzzles. The numbers could index in some way into the words to spell a single meta-answer.
