Question

Following the style of CrayolaSunset

The letters of the alphabet were randomly assigned a number (1-26). Words/phrases are given values that are the product of the values assigned to the letters. If C=2, A=1, and T=7, then CAT = 14.

rear=4056

smile=22770

air=1196

panic=38456

lemon=51480

caps=836

stop=81510

stripe =?

rear=4056 =2^3*3*13^2

smile=22770 =3*5*6*11*23

air=1196 =2^2*23*13

panic=38456 =2^3*11*23

lemon=51480 =2^3*3^2*5*11*13

caps=836 = 2^2*11*19

stop=81510 = 2*3*5*11*13*19

AND

This can be solved without knowing individual letter values!

Given:

rear = 2*2*2*3*13*13;

smile = 3*5*6*11*23;

air = 2*2*11*23

panic = 2*2*2*11*19*23;

lemon = 2*2*2*3*3*5*11*13;

caps = 2*2*11*19; and

stop = 2*3*5*11*13*19

[smile * panic * stop * rear] / [lemon * caps * air] = stripe

Placing the numerical values in the above equation, we get:

stripe = 2^3*3*13^3*19 =1001832

Did some calculation mistake. By calculator it comes to 5624190.

I concur with bhramarraj and robo on the answer. Thoughtfulfellow, you tripped me up with the hint for a bit: panic has 19 in it and 6 is not a prime factorial.

Great puzzle, so much faster to solve than create!

Well I kind of cheated. Used a spreadsheet creating a lookup table with the values of the letters. Then all I had to do was type the words into fields and set formulas to multiply letter equivalents. Now that I have the basic setup, I can put in different words and different codes and it calculates for me. My apologies for the accidental omission of the factor 19 in the word panic and failure to factor 6. My excuse is interruptions, but I should have double checked when I resumed.

Note to all, as CrayolaSunset pointed out, a factor of 19 omitted in word panic!
