Question

I place $20 in a box.

So do you.

Now the box contains $40, and we both know it.

I sell the box to you for $30.

And we both walk away with a $10 profit.

I'm pretty sure this puzzle speaks for itself.

This was posted on Facebook by a friend of mine, and I just had to share it here!

Assuming that the box itself has no value, wouldn't you have to own the contents of the box in order to sell them to me? Since I already own half of the $40, I'm actually paying you $30 for your $20 ;)

Actually, there is no puzzle whatsoever... This is just a bunch of statements, but no question is asked...

Nevertheless, moonthirsty is right.

Correct. I never asked a question. :duh: But the puzzle is how two people could seemingly make a transaction in which both make a profit.
