I can also think of Electricity, which can in some ways do all of those things. But after thinking about it I think the best answer is maybe the Brain. Memory can bring emotions (the burning fire of passion). Memory directly generates thought. Memories sustain us, through them our previous experiences allow us to chose the correct path (pointing the way). It keeps us alive by allowing us to make the right decisions based on previous experience and with each breath our memory grows. And it obviously rescues the lost idea.
