Question

I whir I buzz,

I sometimes shriek,

I crave for power,

with none I'm bleak,

and die within an hour,

So new, and yet, so permanent,

yet ever archaic,

I am born,

I watch my brethren rise above,

and then I die,

as the cycle continues

What am I?

Please excuse my lack of rhymes,

The paper flows in such short times,

I write and crop what fits it best,

rhyming is simply after the rest.

Not as specific as I would like, but...

I'm thinking something computerized that continually renews itself. What comes to mind immediately is like a list of flights at an airport terminal, that cycle in a list on a screen, with new flights appearing at the top and old ones falling to the bottom. That's the best I've got!
