Jack runs toward Jill at 10 mph. Jill runs at Jack at 6 mph. In 15 minutes they pass. How far away are they? I believe they are 4 miles apart. These are some easy math problems. 0 flamebirde Posted June 17, 2011 Report Share Posted June 17, 2011 well, the first one's a piece of cake. the answer is...5 years. because... if you do a systematical chart, it looks like this: person a person b 5 15 6 16 yr. 1 7 17 yr. 2 8 18 yr. 3 9 19 yr. 4 10 20 yr. 5 person a's age person b's age and so 20 is twice 10. For the second, Jack would travel 2.5 miles and Jill would travel 1.5 for a total of 4 miles that they WERE apart, but the question asks how far apart ARE they and I'd say 0 miles.... a few inches maybe, but it would be hard to tell from the info we have...
