Question

in honor of fabpig's request, we'll do another boggle.

here we'll do the 50 states.

a 5x5 grid, remove any letter from the alphabet.

double letters are permissible (you don't need to move)

and the score will be based on the scrabble letter value system.

a,e,i,o,u,r,s,t,l,n =1 point

d,g = 2 points

b,c,m,p = 3 points

f,v,w,h,y = 4 points

k = 5 points

x,j = 8 points

q,z = 10 points

the 50 states are:

I'll try harder but I thought I'd make this...

omitted letter is Q

---------------------

| d | f | Z | Y | x |

---------------------

| g | j | O | I | W |

---------------------

| E | N | K | R | B |

---------------------

| T | S | A | L | v |

---------------------

| U | p | M | C | H |

---------------------

Included states are:

ALASKA - 10

ARIZONA - 16

ARKANSAS - 12

KANSAS - 10

MASSACHUSETTS - 20

NEBRASKA - 14

NEW YORK - 17

TENNESSEE - 9

TOTAL SCORE = 108

First attempt wasn't as feeble as I'd thought.

Capitals are the letters used and omitted letter is Q.

---------------------

| W | d | f | g | j |

---------------------

| E | N | K | v | x |

---------------------

| I | S | A | R | B |

---------------------

| P | L | O | C | M |

---------------------

| z | Y | U | T | H |

---------------------

Included states are:

ALASKA - 10

ARKANSAS - 12

KANSAS - 10

NEBRASKA - 14

NEW YORK - 17

MISSISSIPPI - 17

SOUTH CAROLINA - 18

TENNESSEE - 9

TOTAL SCORE = 107

Maybe someone can tweak this to get another 11 points - MINNESOTA almost fits!

Hi all, I know I'm the only one that responded this time (so far) but I agree with fabpig that this has got great potential mileage as a continuing thread. Superprismatic / phillip1882 - Why don't you establish 'Torus Boggle' as an ongoing game where the winner determines the next subject data set and the grid size / content or whatever you set the rules as (I would suggest that you probably need a time limit of a fortnight or something, but you could even use numbers or glyphs, as well as traditional letters).
