Question

There are three people needing to cross a gap of ice.

It takes three minutes for one person to cross at the highest possible speed.

The ice can support only one person at a time.

The ice will melt in eight minutes.

They wait for the ice to melt then swim the gap

How do they get across?

I agree with puzzled. Hypothermia would set in quickly and they wouldn't make it across. (unless you count "waiting for the ice to melt" as waiting for summer).

I say the solution is they go in order of fastest to slowest and say good luck to the last person. That or fight it out and the winner runs across.
