The day too young for light to abort - Days are getting shorter

Sparkling, down far to ten - It's winter: ten degrees out, and the frost is coming in

Feel it close in, tilting near - The earth's tilt is closer to the sun

And still comes a time to cheer - The frost is almost over

Even should the darkness deepen - It's spring: even though the days aren't all that long yet (i think i was rushed in making this stanza...)

Clouds burning, we were asleep - Sunset comes late

The kids are too young and they weep - Kids can't stay up late enough to see the sunset

Sweltering, to ten times seven - It's summer: seventy degrees, and it's getting hot

Water grey, an ocean everywhere - The rains are coming again

Chilling and falling from the point of care - Temperatures are falling and we don't care much for going outside (well, some of us)

Soaking, we draw all back to our den - It's autumn: we stay indoors while the rainy season comes

Tell me this, for you have a clue

When the time comes, what you do

Face or flee our fear of heaven? - The sun in the heavens (or space) determines the seasons. Do we go out in the hot sun or cold snow? Or something like that?
