Treasure waits beyond the reach

gold within a hold,

The second line could simply be referring to the first, a treasure beyond the reach, which could refer to either something tangible that you can't reach, or a mental treasure such as love, as such no one can completely understand.

remnants of the dead are stitched

to keep the living whole.

This makes me think of the saying, "Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it." Memories (remnants) of the dead can be 'stitched' together to form history, which in turn can help one to survive. It could also refer to a more personal loss, one that brings someone to terms with the concepts of life and death.

Broken bones among the weeds

scattered ‘round and round,

Not so sure about this part. It could refer to something forgotten, such as how a murder could be forgotten, leaving bones somewhere gathering weeds all around that area. Not that I've done that

;) . Kidding

where untouched gems wait silently

This could also refer back to the first line. 'Untouched gems' makes me think of undiscovered jewels and such, waiting in the earth.

o’er blades upon the ground.

Again, I'm not so sure about this part. It could refer to some kind of protection or... I don't know. Whatever.

Bird nest

Treasure waits beyond the reach

gold within a hold, (egg with yolk, hold is nest, out of reach in tree)

remnants of the dead are stitched

to keep the living whole. (Twigs, leaves, and dead grass)

Broken bones among the weeds

scattered ‘round and round, (Again, twigs-bones and weeds-grass scattered in the round nest)

where untouched gems wait silently

o’er blades upon the ground. (eggs over grassy ground)

a bird's nest?

Yeah!!!! Dudly Does Right!

knew you had it DD. good stuff. and to you Shakee, as well. as further evidenced by the perfect answer even before confirmation; and especially after six pages of guesses.

:offtopic: hey Shakee - mind if I toss out some literary litter? really enjoyed those last ones and the concept.
