tall, small

hey phoenixx - not it. my fault. high chair should be seperated into two words.

Logical & illogical

well, logical and not at the same time. but gonna have to say no this time. your "reasoning" is on the right track but need to slot a different one.

Refuses & allows

not quite an alternative answer.

Quiet - Loud......???

(yep...that's how my siblings are....:lol::D)

Halt / Advance

EDIT: But I now see Thalia has already guessed that...

So how about Intercept / Transfer

Or (more of a joke...)

Outgo / Income

ah, thanks for the chuckles. gonna say no, tho...

Perhaps eminent/moderate... but it's a stretch.

not a stretch at all - half the same as mine and probably a valid answer in itself. maybe not quite definitive opposites. nice one

elevate moderate?

hmmm, am not sure if those two can be considered opposites. will research. you and M M have the right correct half. sort of a mild play on words/homophone...

escalate - debate

hmm...stuck in a rhymn i see

not it, t_mo.

EDIT: added second response

calm, excite......????

for 2. or 9.? in any event not my intended but good thinking

Rocker & office

Highchair is for youngsters, rocking chair for older/retired and office for mid or workers

hey Qesh - not it. should have split high chair into two words, sorry. there should be synonyms for each word of the clue that will be opposites for the answer.

Extreme / Moderate

hey hey Molly Mae - yes indeed, exactly correct. was worried I'd have to take drastic measures for this one which could have ignited severe temper.

1. more reason

2. relaxed scene

3. remains true - left right - by Thalia

4. stops payment - halts advances and withdrawals deposits- by Thalia and ...

5. high chair - extreme moderate by Mollie Mae

6. common sale

7. subject closed - open shut - by mojobrain

8. general demand

9. deliberately starve

10. current approach

11. still tacky - quiet loud - by EDM

12. elementary compound - basic complex - by Thalia

slowly fast?

hello DD, that is correct, sir.

vague exact?

that pretty much works...

approximate - exact

...but think this one's best. good one t_mo

spontaneous - plan

a possible alternative but think there is a pair that are more opposite

Offense - Defense

not what I have in mind for this one. this is the one that started this idea. think you'll agree to the answer

calm/storm

hello fabpig - welcome to the den - can I call you slickfuzz? I have a different answer for this one but count yours as a valid alternative. well done.

spread / contract?

gonna have to say not it. looked spread up and could not find a synonomous connection to common.

1) Thankyou for the welcome.

2) Call me slickfuzz if you wish, but be VERY CAREFUL how you pronounce it. May I call you simpleshiny or unadornedvitreouscoated ? lol.

3) Yeah, the answer was a bit tenuous. My thinking was along the lines (eg) "the outbreak of flu spread countywide"

Best wishes,

slizz (<-------- and if you don't get that, I am NOT explaining it)

whoops ........Something gone wrong here, should have been on reply. sorry
