Question

the problem with religion is that its totally flawed......its human nature that kids (more times than not) eventually end up behaving like there parents......sooooo many different religions (catholisism specifically) say that god is vengefull yet all forgiving.......if your all forgiving than how are you vengefull? And if he is vengefull than he must expect us to be vengefull.....even tho where told to forgive people ......to many contrdictions for one book

I agree that religion is a flawed system, being the earliest system that humans used to try to explain the world, before we could think more for ourselves and devise systems to examine the world and test our hypotheses. That doesn't mean that the idea of spirituality is flawed... perhaps it's just an ego trip trying to make ourselves seem more important than a collection of atoms, but you have to admit that the level of intellect and self-reference we've reached is kind of awesome. Nevertheless religion does seem to me to leech of society, passed down from parents to children like a virus of the mind. (Has anyone here read 'Snow Crash' by Neal Stephenson?)

yes, God is all forgiving, we just need to accept His forgiveness and let Him save us. the vengeance spoken of here is talking about the end times, during the Judgment Day when all the people of the world are brought together before God Himself. it is then that He takes His revenge on those who rejected His forgiveness and spares those who accepted it. and us who have accepted His forgiveness must in turn forgive other people in the world. true forgiveness for others comes with Christ's forgiveness for us
