Cabernet Franc

Bordeaux region grape, often used for blending, but occasionally as its own varietal.

"Mate" = Sauvignon blanc, while "child" = Cabernet sauvignon - both generally better known varietals.

In Bordeaux, CabFranc can be used as an "insurance policy" against damage to the CabSauv grapes.

Wineauxs & people in viticulture/enology/winemaking are familiar with the grape.

Bordeaux, known for chateaus - slightly more literally translates to 'manor' rather than 'castle.'
