I agree it was, but even though my answer is not obvious, it's not super deep. You will have to use you're brains in a diffirent way than anyone has yet. 0 Guest
No matter how far the guesses are from the answer, right? Some riddles are well written and might sound like they require deep answers, if they are far off maybe start with a hint for 1st stanza and see where it goes. 0 DudleyDude
That is right on! there is just one more important detail that goes with it... I don't actually know that much about bonnets. I've heard of baby bonnets and Easter bonnets. I guess that since women wore them back then and most of the settlements were all about the religion, I'll guess Easter bonnet.

I'll tell you before we get started that this is in the same format as "life in the kingdom" was, but it's shorter. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!
I think that the beginning is the best place to start.
Bound for Virginia settlers depart.
By the Chesapeake Bay is where Jamestown sat,
Filled with patriotic men and women with lacy hats.
As the country grew, it’s freedom was saved,
Well, everyone except those who were enslaved.
Some of them were teased, others were shunned,
Causing both North and South to pull out their guns.
The civil war started, the military divided,
Both sides were stubborn, but it eventually subsided.
The South was still mad, but back they started to trickle,
Even though their attitude was as sour as a pickle.
Lucky for us, the war here was through,
But then we got into World War II.
To help out over seas, we grew gardens in our yards,
And anything we didn’t eat, we gave to others in jars.
I think that I’ll finish with something from today,
Because we know today is tomorrow’s yesterday.
Even though history may sometimes seem unreal,
You may be making it when you can’t stop honking on the wheel.
