  1. There was a separate forum for a while for dedicated mafia games because it clogged up so many of the posts here. I believe that site is lost forever now, unless some ancient being on the site still has the link...

    Long story short, dead and gone. :(

  2. hey yall! peace here. I saw there are ranks now, and I'm curious if its possible to see what's required for each one. Is it just points for commenting, or are there other actions? I love me some badges, and as a veteran of this site I have my eyes on the prize. :D

  3. Oh my goodness!! Hello! I love the revival of a 2013 riddle, bring it on! :)

    I'm going to post the two poems back to back just for comparisons sake:

    I'm neither ugly nor watched by fools
    But my salty attitude could get under your skin
    & I could sound a bit crazy
    Especially while moving
    Get off my lawn

    • I'm neither ugly nor watched by children

    • But fall afoul of my salty attitude and enjoy my crusty skin

    • Though I could sound a bit crazy, I'm not a fraud

    • Especially while moving

    • Get off my lawn, it's dinnertime

    Initial thoughts:

    Spoiler

    While my thoughts initially jumped to something like a sailor or a witch, I feel like it might actually be food/diet related due to "not watched by children/fools" and "salty/crusty" and "dinnertime." "sound a bit crazy" could be a reference to bananas, but the rest of the rhyme doesn't fit, and "while moving" doesn't really apply here...

    I'm going to guess a crab

    > salty attitude & crusty skin --> crustacean

    > could sound a bit crazy / get off my lawn --> "crabby"?

  4. The Phantom Tollbooth... it's funny, I'd never met other ppl who had that as their favorite book (let alone ppl who really knew about it) until earlier this year where I met 3 or 4 at once... a very weird but cool time.

  5. Not allowed to edit the above comment anymore, I'll keep adding thoughts as they come to me.

    Spoiler

    "groom yourself" - brush, bathe, style,

    "humiliated" - blush, flush, flame, cower,

    "human animal" - the, she, ape... ape might work

    WORKING WITH APE:

    "sweet treat" - _ x a p x --> cap (like nightcap), sap (like syrup)...

    WORKING WITH SAP:

    [ s_ape ]

    "groom yourself" --> shape

    "humiliated" --> shame

    ape

    sap

    The only thing I could really think of for the answer would be "shape," but that either means I have the final answer or the first part (groom) wrong.

    GROOM YOURSELF IS SHAVE ISNT IT!

    Final Answer:

    Spoiler

    ANSWER: Shape

    Shave

    Shame

    Ape

    Sap

    Did I get it? :)

  6. Morality is interesting, and though I'm not in a place where its present on my mind, it's interesting to look at this website as a time capsule of growing up and growing older. It's odd to think that whatever traces we leave in the world, whether in real life or online, outlive us

    This aren't really brain teasers but jokes. As the awnsers of these "wally tests" are often illogical or well known jokes.

    *edit* yes i made a account just to say this. It was driving me insain that these were called Logic/Math Puzzles instead of jokes.

    That is... dedication
    you make a good point, but also this post is 12 years old

  8. So to bring this back a bit perhaps, there's a cool episode of the ted radio your podcast called believers and doubters. I think its worth listening to, and its free to download as a podcast on iTunes.

    Also, even as an atheist, I go to catholic school now. And while religion is definitely a part of the school, I found it to be the most accepting school that I've ever been in, with around 50% of the school being non-catholic.

  9. Okay some more ideas to increase activity:

    Special events, like holiday events, contests and the like. I have no programming skills but I'd be happy to help with the creative portion ^_^.

    More achievements...everyone loves achievements ;P! No, but 99% seriously, so many addictive games and whatnot have achievements b/c they themselves are somewhat addictive. Right now there is only the member title 'achievements', but I think there can be some more that can be added without challenging the core of what the place is about. Especially with the new ability to attribute solutions to a particular person, it shouldn't be too hard to add achievements associated with that: number of puzzles solved, etc. And adding achievements for puzzle makers too might be nice ;).

    I'm back for the next two minutes at least. My journey on brain den began when I was trying to learn how to think. But I'm eighteen now (I STARTED HERE NOT EVEN A TEENAGER AND NOW IM AN ADULT WHAT?!) and with websites like lumosity and fit brains, people can now exercise their brain without having to rely on other people for answers and questions. Its the idea of having a better brain without having to debate or argue with other people. This site doesn't promise results and the others do. And in a world where everyone wants to get a year and be the best, I don't think people see an intelligent community as enticing as something that promises to make you better, the improved you.

    I'm not sure how to present an argument of "we should" or "we shouldn't" do this or that. I think if we look at the sites that promise brain developments, we can see that they divide games into categories. They'll say how this game improved focus and that game improves memory and so on. If people can show that brain den can improve this or that section of the brain, we could attract those who seek to "improve their intelligence."
