NoMinorChords, the posters here are a welcoming group, and are respectful to each other. You did not make a good first impression with this post.
Wolfgang, pay no attention to any post like this, I for one enjoy your riddles.
I have a question for you, do the traditional male/female names follow here.
so Mr. Ducklow and Mr. Simpson could only be Mark, Glenn, John or Frank?
and conversely Ms. Olson and Ms. Fuller could only be Diane, Kathy, Anne, Betty, Mary, Sandra?
What does no communication mean here, are prisoners allowed to do something like raise their hand? or chose their position in line?
If so i think I have a simple solution
I would double check your spreadsheet. I wrote a quick simulation program. I was down $548 after 25 "visits" to the casino.
I then modified the simulation to match the OP. Using the quit while i was ahead methodology
Negative:
Irregardless if you removed it, people would still use it
Then we would just have to add it back in because of usage!
But seriously, it does certainly have meaning. The way you used it in your example was not contradictory ("Indescribable beauty"). It was clear, you could not find words to describe the beauty. The thought would remain no matter how you phrase it. Now you would be contradictory if you phrased it like:
She had indescribable beauty, do to her full red lips and silky flowing black hair.
I dint get this one. Can you please explain. Why would the liar say 'Yes' if the middle girl is whimsical? She would lie instead right? so how would we make out again which is the whimsical one if the first girl (the one you ask the question to) is not the whimsical one.
Hi sharkie,
Welcome to the board. The reason why the liar will answer "truthfully" in this case is because of the way the question is worded. It is a trick used in these kinds of riddles. The question I posed was "If I were to ask you ..." this causes kind of a double negative situation.
Lets say that the middle girl is the whimsical one and I am talking to the liar. If I were to ask the liar "is the middle girl whimsical" the liar would say no.
but if I were to ask the liar how she would respond to that same question: "If I were to ask you whether or not the princess in the middle is the whimsical girl, what would your response be?" I am not directly asking about the middle girl any more I am asking how the liar would answer a direct question. Directly the liar would say no, but now she must lie about that answer so she must say yes.
I hope this helps.
This guess is incorrect, but the movie does match my theme (in both ways - kind of a 2 part theme). I don't know if we are thinking of the same theme though.
This guess is incorrect as well, and doesn't quite match my theme (close but not quite).
I did a few of these awhile ago, I thought I would do another.
The rules are simple - Here are 7 (riddled) movie taglines, can you figure out the real tagline and the movie?
1. You have never seen anything more exciting.
2. You have never seen more than this.
3. Edward the Quick.
4. One little ignition, gave us one hot night.
5. This if for those who try, regardless of the outcome.
6. Sometimes it takes someone's faith in you, to get confidence.
7. Hide transgressions, or wipe them away.
I will provide more hints if needed.
