  1. Orin frowned. They had figured out that the pictures were names and the letters were initials, but why were the names and initials mismatched? And what was the meaning of the (-1) and (+1)? Something an agent had mentioned popped into his mind, something about figuring out an order...
  2. Questions: 1)"None of their digits are the same." - does this mean none of the digits in the same decimal place are the same for the different numbers or none of the digits in the same number are the same or both? 2)The location of the decimal point is variable rather than at the location shown, i.e. at the beginning of the number?
  3. Precisely. It has no correspondence to real concepts, it's a semantic bastardization of scientific terminology, like the "evolution -> progress -> good" or "entropy -> chaos -> evil" arguments.. Trying to explain with real physics (as 2 and 3 of your OP does) is kinda like trying to explain what goes on in Harry Potter with physics...;P
  4. No, both those things are, by the laws of physics, impossible. The more powerful a force is, the more likely it will interact with the fundamental forces, particles, and bonds of molecules, atoms, quarks, etc., there's no way it'd just "pass through" the object. On the other side of the coin, all molecules, nuclei, etc. have threshold energies at which the bonds will break, particles will excite, decay, fuse, etc.
  5. Night 2 By the light of the half-moon, the two chimera ant squadron leaders silently and skillfully stalked their prey. One, a wolf-insect hybrid with a lean and hungry look, glanced sideways at his companion periodically. The other, a crustacean-insect hybrid, was mentally oscillating between the task at hand and his secret plans to move up the chain of command. Suddenly their target, Phil, halted, as if alerted by something. The two chimera ants quickly ducked behind nearby trees to avoid detection. A few moments later, they shared a telepathic signal and simultaneously peaked back out into the clearing. Phil was no where to be seen. 6. I'm not sure what a "force with infinite energy" actually means, but if a strong force was applied to anything at 0K, it would no longer be at 0K. A force with enough energy would destroy the object, if not by mechanical means, then by breaking the bonds b/w or even within the atoms, sending its pieces or particles flying throughout space. Since a force must have direction, there will be a net movement in the center of mass of all the debris. And don't try "indestructible", that's not atoms work, unless this is some fictional universe where things are not made of atoms and the laws of physics are different, in which case, I have no idea . As for being affected by friction or entropy, take an object sliding down on inclined plane. The force of gravity is what is pulling it down. The force of gravity remains the same, it's a fundamental force. Friction will slow the object down, it will counteract the force of gravity, but it will not affect the force of gravity itself.

  8. Day 1 Framm was napping beneath the shade of an immense oak tree. He was having a strange dream, in which he and Araver went on a quest to save Araver’s true love from captivity, which was going smoothly, when everyone abruptly starting shooting everyone else in the face with shotguns. Groaning, his eyes popped open. He was greeted with the sight of everyone in his dream standing over him, frowning. “Hey, whats up?” he asked absentmindedly, noting a strange itch in his neck. “It’s been a long and confusing Day and we just decided we needed to kill somebody,” bonanova informed him. “Okay, sure, makes sense,” Framm shrugged. Gmaster smiled at him and patted Framm on the shoulder. “Glad you understand,” he said before giving the rope in his hand a hard yank. Framm’s body was pulled sharply up into the air by the noose around his neck. There was a loud crack, it twitched, and then fell stonily silent. 9. The rule is for "in case of a tie". At the end of the Day, no tie, no one is doomed except the person with the plurality. The intent of the rule is to discourage ties, after all .
  10. Chrome, I'm using the regular 'for dummies' editor. Like, if I press the bold button three times:
  11. @GMaster: You are correct, although it would be the most hilarious mafia ending ever . @bonanova: No, you are only doomed if there is a 1v1v1v1v...etc tie at the end of the Day, one of the 1's you were responsible for causing the tie of. No tie, no doom .
  12. I was referring to if it was left that way, i.e. left as a tie at the end of the day. Your removal of your vote created a tie which had not been there previously. Araver did not fix the tie, he only created a three-way tie. If the tie is removed before the end then it obviously does not apply. I.e. the second voter can vote whichever way he wants unless no one else votes and the end of the day sees a 1 to 1 tie that he created. Well, or if everyone voted for someone else and there was a 1v1v1v1...etc tie. Due to the slew of confusion I'm extending the Day to 3PM CST tomorrow 7/18. Although I was kinda looking forward to Araver Unchained...;P
  13. Where's that  smiley when you need it? I have no idea what you mean, but you really don't know me very well, do you ;P? I'm one of those people who the threat of numbers only serves to strengthen the resolve of, not intimidate. I.e. give me a zombie to slay, and I'll feel sorry for him, give me an army of zombies, and well..."oh my, did Christmas come early this year?" ;D

  15. Bonanova's (capital here since it's at the beginning of a sentence) removal is what is being counted, since it's what created the tie, not the last vote. Since he created the tie before your voting effected anything, you wouldn't save him, just adding to the mountain of bodies. P.S. I'd bet I like creating exceptional rules (and roles) more than you like to stretch them ;P...also don't under-estimate my sense of humor...I've already mentally started writing the Quentin Tarantino version of the Day Post .
  16. Yes, APR still 1, explained in the previous post. Also, since the tie rules may not be completely clear on this point (I forgot to add the "(s)" to "player(s) that created the tie" this time): the tie penalty apply for every tie, i.e. if there are more than two players tied, all players responsible to creating each subsequent tie also die.
  17. I keep having the symbols "" when I copy/paste, sometimes when I delete, change colors, make things bold or not bold, etc. It's not crippling, but is getting a little annoying. Any ideas?
  18. Sorry, but it's the act of voting that triggers APR, not the counting of the vote itself, since putting a vote on somebody has consequences in the Day phase, even if you change your mind, so once you vote, it can't be undone.. You can changed your mind as much as you want about actions in the Night phase (before the deadline), they don't go through or have any consequence until the Night Post. Also, note you just created a tie, so you would die at Day's end if it stays like this, as per the tie rules.

  21. Night 1 GMaster bounced down the sidewalk. His hand holding the lottery ticket was shaking with excitement as he checked the numbers against the screen in his other hand...again. There they were, a perfect match...he had hit the jackpot! He grinned. Maybe now he could finally buy that Greed Island game everyone was talking about… He was so elated he didn’t even notice the shadow which had been stalking him for the last several blocks. As he paused in front of an intersection, waiting for the light to change, he suddenly noticed by the light from a street lamp that there was a silhouette behind him. He turned and… ...a cage sprung out around him, seemingly from nowhere. Startled, GMaster didn’t realize he had let go of his paper boon until it was too late. The ticket wafted down down...through the open gutter nearby. “Shoot!” Humming to herself, Nana filled in the last square of the Einstein puzzle she was working on and sat back with a satisfied grin on her face. Another one solved. Time to reward herself with some nice caramel brownie ice cream. She hopped up and headed to the fridge. As she was pulling open the freezer door, however, suddenly her kitchen door burst open and two strange figures entered. One was some sort of humanoid lion/insect hybrid, the other a somewhat less humanoid turtle/insect hybrid. “Finally, a tasty treat for our Queen,” the turtle thing hissed. “Sorry, but I’m not sharing,” she proclaimed, hugging the pint protectively. The lion thing grinned menacingly. “He wasn’t talking about the ice cream…” Chairman: Yoruichi-san Roster: 1) Phil1882 2) Framm18 3) Flamebirde 4) bonanova 5) GMaster479 6) Araver 7) Nana77 - DEAD [?] killed by Ant Queen Day 1 begins now, ends tomorrow 7/17 at 9PM CST!
  22. "Well done, agents," Captain Wraith applauded as his elite team blasted through the pictograms. Now they just had to focus on the bigger picture. "Let's look at the parts we haven't yet...there is most likely some meaning to it. From our experience, we have seen that, when it comes to judging the Witch's ploys, it is prudent to err more towards method than madness." ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Personal note: I love watching you guys think .
  23. Well, from a scientific perspective both those things are misnomers. "Unstoppable Force" - I would argue forces are fundamentally unstoppable. You can counteract a force, but you can "stop" it. I.e. when I hold up a book, I'm counteracting the force of gravity that is trying to pull it down towards the earth's mass, but I'm not stopping gravity, it's still acting on the book. "Unmovable Object" - This depends on the frame of reference. An object is never moving in it's own frame of reference, but is always moving in some other frame of reference, or else, like, our universe would be some wasteland where of absolute zero temperature, if there were no particles moving. I.e. the ground beneath my feet seems like it's not moving to me right now, but it's actually rotating around and circling from the frame of reference of the sun or an observer in space. On the most fundamental level, the electrons in any object are always moving, the atomic bonds are always vibrating. So I think the fundamental answer to the question is that it's not a true paradox, it's using words to make things seem like a paradox, but since the words don't correspond to anything real or truly meaningful, its in truth a semantic illusion. (But if you want to play with it, you could try arguments based on the 'frame of reference' principle )
  24. Okay, so...I just realized I made an error sending the role PM's...which has never happened to me before . I'm going to re-roll, your new role PM's will be sent to you immediately and since most have already confirmed Night 1 will end as scheduled at 9PM CST tomorrow 7/16. Thanks for your cooperation.
