Main female roles that are incorrectly referred to as princesses: Mulan, Pocahontas, Jasmine.

In order to be classified as a princess, a woman must be 1) the daughter of a king (not a sultan/tribe chief/whatever), 2) married to a prince, or 3) both.

I'm sure there's a longer list (Snow White?) of characters who don't qualify. But you get the gist.
