  1. The word "hero" can mean many things, depending on who you ask. Neil Armstrong was a hero to many. A pilot, a Navy officer, an engineer, a test pilot, an astronaut. The first man to set foot and walk on the Earth's moon. A good man. To me, he was also a fellow Boilermaker and band alum.

My parents were still in school when Apollo 11 landed on the moon. I remember them both telling me about it when I was younger. It was one of those defining moments of history that anyone who experienced remembers where they were and what they were doing.

As a graduate of Purdue, I have always been proud that Neil was a fellow alumnus. He was gracious enough throughout his life to continue his association with and support of the university. I had the privilege of meeting him once, when he was on campus for a Homecoming weekend. He came to watch Friday afternoon marching band practice. That's something I'll be telling my own kids and grandkids one day.

Thank you, Neil, for your service and bravery. Godspeed. May you soar among the heavens, in peace.

  2. Yes indeed!

    London Beer Flood

Spurs' Court Road = Tottenham (Tottenham Spurs FC) Court Road

Parliament lived = Rookery (Parliament is a flock of rooks, a rookery is also slang for a slum)

Eight people died from drowning in beer or injuries when buildings collapsed

Judge & jury ruled the accident an Act of God

Other words of wisdom / quotes about life & living I like -

"The blackest night must end in dawn, the light dispel the dreamer's fear..."

    -- Jimmy Buffett

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace."

    -- Jimi Hendrix

Then of course, there's the one about taking life with a wedge of lime & a shot of tequila. (akin to lemons, lemonade ... nevermind)

  7. gvg, you can do the (long, tedious, annoying) process of setting up your entire possible draft order & auto-pick settings so you'll have something along the lines of the kind of players you want. If you don't, you go by ESPN's auto-draft order & settings.

  8. Fair warning - I'm not really very good at these, so many are guesses that made sense (to me).

    Fencers or Fencing

Nager -- French verb "to swim"

  10. I'll smile as long as it's sunny

I'll cry as long as it rains

    With smiles I'll greet you

    Whenever I meet you

    As long as it's snowing

    Or windy and blowing

And the dark is as long as its day
