Question

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.

John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.

John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.

Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln .

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.

Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.

Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford'.

Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln ' made by 'Ford'.

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

Creepy huh? Send this to as many people as you can, cause:

Hey, this is one history lesson most people probably will

not mind reading!

Hope you guys liked it! ;)

P.S. This is real.

Both Presidents were shot in the head ----Also both wifes witnessed their husbands assasinations.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.---------No records show Lincoln having a secretary named Kennedy...He had two: John Hay, and John Nicolay.Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln .

Both were assassinated by Southerners.----Booth was born in Maryland, and spent most his life(if not all) in the North. He was a Confederate sympathizer is all. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.

Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.-------Actually he was born in 1838

Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names. ------At the time of their bad deeds, they were not comonly called by all three names, only afterwards did they get that sort of recognition.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.-------Booth was shot by a marshal while attempting to capture him, hardly an assanation.

Sorry to debunk a few of them. Still cool stuff anyway. ;)

Have a history teacher explain this-- if they can.

P.S. This is real.

I'm guessing you didn't do any research. As has already been shown, plenty of the claims aren't real. The rest are either rather mundane coincidences or exaggerations. To add to what James8421 wrote, you can check out the Snopes article.

You're right, I didn't do any research on this, I got it in an email. So whoever created it made the mistakes. And I agree, they are mostly just coincidences; I don't think that these would happen on purpose. So, sorry for any "inconviences" this may have caused. I actually find it quite interesting.

It is interesting, mistakes and myths notwithstanding, as an example of how looking at something selectively can create a convincing impression of a pattern (the "coincidences" are chosen from a vast range of possible links which are not coincidental). Kind of reminds me of the Bible/Torah code in that regard. If anyone's got a little time on their hands it might be a fun game to pick 2 celebrities out of a hat and see if you can do a better list.
