The answer is 35.35

If you wrote the numbers down correctly, then the solution is simply to add each number to itself, only you reverse the numbers on each side of the decimal. For example: 4.7 + 7.4 = 12.1

This would mean the sequence would go like this: 4.7 12.1 13.22 35.35 (which is 13.22 + 22.13).

You're welcome B)

a friend sent me this puzzle, and it has me stumped.

what comes next? 4.7 12.1 13.22

thanks for your help!

<_< I believe the next two numbers would be 22.13 and 31.04. Some one message me and let me know if i'm right or wrong and if I'm wrong let me know the correct answers. Thanks!

22.13 is what you add to 13.22 to get the next number

It does seem that, in fact, you reverse the numbers for each side of the decimal. So, it would not be 35.35, rather 35.53.

If you reverse the numbers either side of the decimal then you would end up with 12.1 + 21.1 = 33.2 NOT 13.22

ACTUALLY YOU ARE QUITE WRONG AS 12.1 REVERSED IS 1.21 WHICH 1.21 + 12.1 = 13.31 NOT 13.22 WHICH MAKES THIS ANSWER IMPOSSIBLE. SORRY FOR THE YELLING I AM AT WORK AND NEED TO TYPE IN CAPS. I DO NOT HAVE AN ANSWER MYSELF BUT DID NOTICE THIS ERROR.

4.7 + 7.4 = 12.1

12.1 + 1.12 = 13.22

13.22 + 22.13 = 35.35

Simply switch over the numbers from each side of the decimal and add respectively. The answer is 35.35.

no if it were your way the number after 12.1 would be 13.31

I believe the pattern should be A.B x B.A where A and B are a series of number regardless how many digit they have. but not the reverse the number digit by digit.

So I am with the answer of 35.35 too.

It's not an error. The answer is what it is, it just may be that the wording to the solution is troubling you. The answer is simply that the digits on the left side of the decimal point switch places with the digits on the right side -- without the digits themselves changing position. Therefore, 4.7 + 7.4 = 12.1; 12.1 + 1.12 = 13.22, and 13.22 + 22.13 = 35.35, and 35.35 + 35.35 = 70.70. (Nice that they end up being the same!)

P.S. What kind of job do you have that you can't undo the Caps Lock button? My curiosity is now piqued. :-)
