0 Guest
Wait, what do you mean 'from point no. 1' ? Do you mean after the first cut or after the last one?
0 Guest
If the cake is a regular shape (e.g. not like a number 2) and the slices are straight cuts through the same plane, it seems to me that you can get a maximum of 7 pieces. If the cuts are through different planes, I think that you can get 12 pieces.

0 Guest
Or if it HAS to be straight lines the most I can get is 8 Unfortunately I lack the graphics skills, but using cut number one above, you could then cut a curved 'S' line continuously intersecting the first cut, creating an infinite number of small interior pieces. (If that makes sense)

0 Guest
Cut a spiral from the center out as the first cut, then cut normal side to side perpendicular for the next two cuts. You can end up with a lot of pieces.

0 Guest
or if it's a round pan, after cut one, stack the two halves on top of eachother Technically, if you make it all the way to the edge, then the knife is out of the cake and it becomes a new cut. If it doesn't make it all the way out, then the two pieces trying to be split is still one. Therefore, you either only have eight pieces, or you have 6 cuts. If it doesn't make it all the way out, then the two pieces trying to be split is still one. Therefore, you either only have eight pieces, or you have 6 cuts. So by your definition I can make as many cuts as I want inside the cake as long as I don't go all the way to the edge?
