Question

ok, when i'm bored in class, i work on this game i'm calling 'strategic tic tac toe'. it's the same board as regular tic tac toe, but 6X6 squares, and you have to try to make an 'L' shappe with 3 pieces like this:

.................

.-.-X-.-.

.................

.-.-X-X-.

................

~or~

.................

.-.-X-.-.

.................

.-X-X-.-.

................

~but not~

.................

.-.-X-X-.

.................

.-.-X-.-.

................

~and not~

.................

.-X-X-.-.

.................

.-.-X-.-.

................

i attached a file that explains some of it better. i know it's 7X7, that's an accident.

but ya, i'm trying to make it not too easy to win, but not too hard. just thought i'd share my ideas.

Why not start with this and then just replace with X's and O's. One letter per turn. We can easily continue with the reply button. I will start this one below, to see if this will actually work.

##X###

ok, i've never actually played it. just so u know. nobody ever relly wanted to, so it might not work out. ok, here i go:

##XO##

Maybe this game can be tweaked, but the way I see it, the first player to go is always going to win on his 3rd move. :o

he's not gunna win on the 3d move, read the rules pic i attached. there's a certain rule that stops him form winning on the 3d move in this case

I guess I win with an "L" shape. Unless, I need to use 4 exes. :D:wacko:

the 'o' i put inside the 'l' shape stops the win.

###O##

#OXO##

##XX##

##X### this would win, for example unless:

##XX##

##XO## <-- that o shape is inside, which is what i did.

It cannot possibly work with 3 X's and without at least 2 O's.

I'll just make a move for the heck of it.

######

###O##

#OXO#

##XXX#

######

######

i'm not sure i got that, but with that move i would win with:

######

###O##

#OXOO#

##XXX#

######

the reason u didn't win is because an 'l' shape wins, unless an opposing symbol thingy (o or x) completes the 'l' shape into a square.

like:

XO

XX

^

it's not a win, because of where the 'o' shape is. i wrote this in the pic, but i don't think it was legible, it's hard to write with the line tool and the letter tool isn't ajustable in size and is very small letters.

but this is a win:

X

XX

this game needs some major tweaking. but it has potential! (i think) and who invented/thought up tic tac toe?

Regardless of the above, there are still some kinks in this, before it is ready for the start of a real game.

Maybe, there's another type of character that can be used instead of an L. Good luck.

I don't know who invented it. Maybe check wikipedia?

yup :D maybe they chose a 3X3 board with 3 in a row for a reason...
