From the ends of the Earth my name is told

Where new land meets water and seasons are cold.

My looks are scarred with the lines of a story;

Of marriage and death and legends of glory.

I am but a branch from a proud family tree,

Or a standard of shame to stain history.

My tongue remains muted, but if closely you look:

The summary plot of an unwritten book.

Look to the sky to read a tall tale,

Now guess what I am,

It’s easy, don’t fail.

Probably not, but is the answer "history"?

LOL! No, I won't be that obvious. :)

Does it involve taking a letter from each line and getting a word that way or a word's anagram?

If it's the first way, we're looking for a 9/(11) letter word beginning with 'h'.

No Izzy. No tricks. This is a straight-up riddle. Enough word clues are within.

Not sure but,

Tall tale makes me think of God, but as to how that relates with everything else I don't know.

A place? Sounds like Pompei(sp?) to me.

edit: except for the cold seasons part...

Hmm. Don't think so. Unless mention of volcanoes were intentionally avoided.

Hard to say if its a place or if its a person..it has two ways at looking it at if you break it down, but as a whole, I'm clueless.

Not a specific place, but it's endemic to one.

Shakee is a good riddle writer. It's because it's not obvious that I bothered to guess. ;)

Thanks Grayven. They're fun to make up, but I have to be careful not to make them too obvious, as per the Check-please riddle. Word choice is crucial but I'm always keen to add a few hidden clues between the lines.

I'll take the tired and poor as well. She is the copper goddess of freedom! (though technically, endemic to two places)

No, it doesn't speak of a dead person or tombstone. But these are actually related to the answer in a way you will understand when you know the answer.

Please use spoilers.

No, not Bible. Unwritten, remember?

A most excellent, well thought out answer, but incorrect nonetheless. You're close.
