Sheikh's Inheritance - Back to the Logic Puzzles
An Arab sheikh tells his two sons to race their camels to a distant city to see who will inherit his fortune. The one whose camel is slower wins. After wandering aimlessly for days, the brothers ask a wise man for guidance. Upon receiving the advice, they jump on the camels and race to the city as fast as they can.
What did the wise man say to them?

Spoiler for Solution:
Sheikh’s Heritage - solution
The wise man told them to switch camels.

But the riddle said that whoever had the slowest camel would inherit the Sheikh's money. Why would the two brothers be racing as fast as they can? Don't they want the fortune?

This is simple.

The aim of the race is for one of the boys and his camel to race to the city and return but the owner of the slowest camel would be declared winner.
By switching camels it meant the new intention was to make the others camel travel fast, therefore making your own camel, which the other rides, the slower of the two. as one would win.

Make sense?

i registered just to say i love this one! Fast, simple, to the point and smart... well done!

My first thought was that the wise man told them to let the camel and run... but i quickly realized it made no sense at all :/

of course the truely harmonious answer would be tfor the brothers to decide that no amount of wealth and fortune should be allowed to come between them and then for them to walk harmoniously into town at the exact same time making the father decide another way how to divide the moeny

Perhaps the wise man told them their father was already dead...

The son who has the slower camel must be a smarter and better rider in order to win the race. Just because your camel is slower doesn't mean you have to loose the race. In fact, the Sheikh may have chosen a winner before the race even began.

Actually, the condition for winning is that their camel had to be slower. What does this mean? That it took longer for the camel to arrive at the city or that is was slower at the time of arrival. If the latter then both brothers would be encouraged to run their camels as hard as possible to make it the slowest one once they have arrived.

The wise man told them the father died. The bet was off.
